– Chris Bernisk, a partner at venture capital firm Placeholder and former head of cryptocurrencies at Ark Invest, believes bitcoin (BTC) has yet to hit a localized bottom.

He says he wouldn’t be surprised to see it fall to at least the $30,000 to $36,000 range and test the mid-$20,000s before hitting an all-time high.

As always, patience is your friend,” Bernisk says. “The road to reaching this target will not be a short one and fake dips are to be expected.

The long-term trend remains strong,” he says, “but we’ve just seen a few first-cycle parabolas. The macroeconomy looks fragile on several levels. New product innovation is imminent, but we haven’t gotten there yet. A sense of isolation persists.”

After rising 5% on Friday, bitcoin has fallen nearly 20% to below $40,000 since the spot bitcoin fund ETF began trading on Jan. 11. It was at US$41,700 at the time of publication.

By no means do I mean to say that I’m taking a lot of risk. It’s more like counting bullets and sharpening blades,” Bernisk concluded.
