Tether CEO refutes Ripple CEO’s claim that USDt is under attack from the US.

Tether defends USDt’s role as a stable coin for unbanked customers and emphasizes security measures.

The CEO also accused the media of bias by talking about Tether’s cooperation with law enforcement.

Paolo Aldino, CEO of Tether (USDt), a well-known issuer of stable coins, responded to criticism from Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, who recently claimed that the U.S. government is harassing Tether.

Garlinghouse stated that while he considers USDt an important player in the cryptocurrency scene, he doubts its future impact on the cryptocurrency scene due to the investigation into the allegations he mentioned.

In this regard, Ardoyno provided some details about the security of the Tether USDt ecosystem.

Let me talk about the security of the Tether USDt ecosystem.

The Tether CEO defended USDt against skepticism by emphasizing its role as the most used stablecoin globally, especially in emerging markets and developing countries. According to him, USDt serves as a de facto payment and savings account for many unbanked communities.

In addition, Mr. Ardoyno emphasized Tether’s commitment to creating a secure global financial system that is accessible to all. This includes price stability, liquid reserves, trusted custodians, and strict compliance.

On the other hand, Mr. Ardoino argues that despite attempts to convey this message in interviews, the mainstream media has been reluctant to report on these positive aspects. The CEO noted that the media’s preference for sensationalized coverage of Stackcoin and cryptocurrencies may be an attempt to protect existing financial sector interests.

The CEO also emphasized that the company respects and complies with the OFAC/SDN list, and Mr. Ardoyno added that Tether cooperates with 124 law enforcement agencies in more than 40 countries and has blocked more than $1.3 billion in illegal activity, including $1.6 million related to terrorism.

He also said that Tether has responded to 198 law enforcement requests to block wallets in the past year, 90 of which came from U.S. agencies, and 339 in three years, 158 of which came from U.S. agencies.
