📌 The Arbitrum Foundation has allocated $14 million to fund security audits on its network, Cryptopolitan reports.
The Arbitrum Foundation is allocating $14 million worth of ARB tokens to support security audits of blockchain projects on its network.
The program is designed to support early-stage, market-compliant projects as well as established teams planning major upgrades or new deployments.
This comes shortly after PayPal expanded its use of PYUSD to Arbitrum, deploying it for the first time on a layer 2 blockchain.
Arbitrum Foundation launched a security initiative called the Arbitrum Audit Program, allocating $14 million in ARB tokens to fund smart contract audits for blockchain projects on its network.
The initiative has two key goals: to improve the security of the Arbitrum ecosystem, which has proven itself as a scaling solution for Ethereum Layer 2, and to simplify security audits from a financial perspective.
The tokens will reportedly be distributed over a 12-month period and are intended for early-stage projects showing product-market fit or for established teams planning significant upgrades or new deployments.
The main goal of the project is to ease the financial burden of security audits for all stakeholders. Sometimes these costs are prohibitive for smaller projects, and they often fail to provide adequate security assurance.
The initiative will be managed by an oversight committee consisting of representatives from the Arbitrum Foundation, core developer Offchain Labs, and one technical expert selected by the DAO.
Approved projects will be required to use audit firms from a pre-approved list expected to be released this week.
Since news of the initiative broke, X’s sentiment has been positive.
The initiative has been endorsed by ArbitrumDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization that manages the Arbitrum ecosystem, where ARB token holders vote on proposals. This reflects Arbitrum’s commitment to community-based governance and ecosystem security.
PayPal USD (PYUSD) expanded to Arbitrum on July 17, 2025, becoming the first time a stablecoin has been deployed on a Level 2 blockchain. Although, according to an internal company memo, other layer 2 deployments will follow.
The deployment, which gives developers the ability to integrate PYUSD on the second tier, aims to capitalize on Arbitrum’s low cost and high performance transaction processing.
PYUSD deployment on Arbitrum will allow developers to seamlessly extend smart contract deployments from the Ethereum core network to Arbitrum without rewriting code, enabling easy migration of dApps by providing Ethereum-compatible tools and the ability for developers to utilize established DeFi protocols.
“The key to the success of any cryptocurrency is a robust developer ecosystem, but to attract developers to the community, we need to give them the tools they need to build and deploy applications where they want them to be, said Mai Zabaneh, vice president of product at PayPal. “Whether they need Ethereum’s maximum security and high liquidity, Solana’s high throughput and low latency, or Arbitrum’s Ethereum compatibility and Layer 2 efficiency, developers can now deploy PYUSD-based applications on the blockchain that best meets their technical requirements.
The deployment comes at a critical time for traditional businesses, as more companies around the world are looking for alternatives to the high costs associated with traditional cross-border transactions.
