On January eleventh, 2024, BlackRock (NYSE: BLK) introduced its bitcoin (BTC)-linked spot exchange-traded fund (ETF). I vividly remember the mood in the crypto community back then.

The crypto-ETF is traded like a standard stock on a traditional exchange such as Nasdaq and provides a regulated and familiar method to gain indirect participation in cryptocurrencies, eliminating the need to directly own or dispose of digital assets.

Since its launch over two years ago, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (Nasdaq: IBIT) has reached an important milestone.

According to SoSoValue, IBIT’s net assets surpassed $69 billion on January 28.

The net inflow of funds currently amounts to $62.8 billion.

Since BlackRock IBIT follows the bitcoin exchange rate, it is logical to compare the quotes of both the fund and the cryptocurrency.

Over the past two years since its launch, IBIT has increased in value by 70% . In the same period of time, BTC has gained only 20% .

Although the price of the “King Coin” broke through the $126,000 level in early October last year and set a new peak, the decline it experienced after the collapse on October 10 was reflected in the chart.

BTC has lost 30% of its value since October 10 last year. IBIT has also seen a 30% drop since that date.
