Tether has made a tactical investment in Whop, a marketplace for content creators, as part of its push to integrate stablcoin infrastructure into mainstream commerce.

According to the terms of the deal announced Wednesday, Whop will implement the Tether Wallet Development Kit (WDK) to enable direct settlement in stablecoins for its 18.4 million users. The platform will support both USDT and the new USDA revenue-generating steblicoin.

This partnership connects Whop’s creator economy to Tether’s vast ecosystem of over 530 million users worldwide and over $180 billion in issued steiblcoins, opening up the potential for massive new customer acquisition.

Whop functions as an online marketplace where creators sell digital goods, educational courses and access to their communities. The platform handles about $3 billion in annual revenue for creators, with total transaction volume growing by about 25% each month.

“Stablecoins and wallets are most powerful when they are embedded directly into people’s daily lives, said Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino. The WDK integration will allow Whop to provide users with faster international payments and more reliable financial instruments.

This integration will transform Whop into a standalone wallet for its community, with plans to introduce elements of DeFi, including lending and borrowing features.

For Tether, this investment is another step beyond solely issuing stablecoins to focus on infrastructure projects. From bitcoin mining to artificial intelligence initiatives, the company is actively funding ventures that can catalyze real-world adoption of USDT.

The funding will support Whop’s international expansion into Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific, as well as the development of new AI tools targeting what the company calls

i “agent-based revenue opportunities” i – a reference to the growing intersection of agent-based AI and cryptocurrency payments.

“The next generation of online business needs to be global from day one, and payments need to move as freely as the internet itself, emphasized Stephen Schwartz, CEO of Whop.
