On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Catenaa reported that BNP Paribas Asset Management is piloting the issuance of tokenized shares for its French money market fund on the Ethereum platform. This is the latest step in the development of onchain finance within the current regulatory framework.

The pilot study, using the AssetFoundry platform, involves the issuance of tokenized assets under a restricted access scheme. Ownership and movement of such shares is limited to qualified and authorized parties as prescribed by regulators.

This offering was designed as a closed, in-house experience to explore full transaction cycles, including issuance, registry maintenance, tokenization and integration with the public blockchain network.

BNP Paribas Asset Management acted as the issuer of the fund, while BNP Paribas Securities Services took on the role of registrar and distributor.

The firm emphasized that the testing was designed to evaluate the performance and security of the systems while continuously monitoring regulatory compliance.

The move follows a past collaboration with Allfunds Blockchain, which resulted in the first tokenized money market fund created from scratch.

BNP Paribas is also involved in pilot projects to link the Swift financial messaging network with the Ethereum Linea Layer 2 network and is in dialog with leading financial institutions about issuing their own stablecoins.
