Bitcoin remained around the $64,000 mark and rose slightly, defying predictions of a weekend drop.

Cryptocurrency and energy markets are bracing for a likely sell-off on Black Monday. Talks between the U.S. and Iran in Switzerland broke down over the weekend, once again fueling fears of an oil shock and a flight to safety on Monday.

The Iranian side walked out of the talks in protest against new threats from President Donald Trump. As a result, both analysts and traders anticipate that stocks and cryptocurrencies may open sharply lower.

A critical moment has arrived at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland. The U.S., Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar gathered there to extend the ceasefire agreed upon on June 17.

According to official media reports, the Iranian delegation refused to participate in a group photo and walked out of the talks.

Trump threatened a new strike against Iran because of its proxy forces in Lebanon. He also told Iranian officials that they would not return home if Tehran blocked the Strait of Hormuz.

This threat is significant because of cargo traffic. According to the EIA, about 20 million barrels of oil pass through the strait daily, accounting for approximately 20% of global consumption.

Nevertheless, this waterway has remained open even during past conflicts. Iran threatened to block it in 2011 and 2019 but never followed through on those threats.

Last week, the price of Brent crude fell to around $80 per barrel as crude oil prices dropped below that level following the resumption of tanker traffic. However, the current disruption threatens this fragile recovery.

When Trump announced a ceasefire earlier this month, stocks and oil reacted, while cryptocurrencies remained virtually unchanged.

So far, cryptocurrencies are not following the general trend. The spot price of Bitcoin (BTC) held steady at around $64,181 on Sunday, having risen slightly over the course of the day.

Ethereum (ETH) was trading around $1,730. Since the cryptocurrency market operates around the clock, this calm over the weekend is a real-time signal rather than an assumption based on a closed market.”,”detected_source_language”:”RU
