– As reported over the past few weeks, the company led by Tom Lee accumulated over 42,000 ETH at the beginning of the month and another 30,500 coins over the following seven days, continuing to build up to 5% of the total supply. However, the company has now made a much smaller purchase7,430 ETHas it needs more funds to buy back its own shares.

Despite a 76% slowdown in accumulation compared to last week, by July 19, Bitmine Immersion Technologies had nevertheless increased its total holdings to 5,777,468 ETH, which, at a price of about $1,880 per coin, is worth $10.85 billion. This represents approximately 4.8% of the total ETH in circulation. Thus, the company remains on track to achieve its long-term goal of controlling 5% of this asset.

Chairman of the Board of Directors Tom Lee remains confident that the company will continue to purchase ETH on a weekly basis, as it has done since the inception of its treasury-building strategy just over a year ago. He also noted that the reduction in purchase volumes is not necessarily related to a loss of confidence in this asset.

The company allocated significant funds to repurchase approximately 5.5 million of its own common shares at an average price of just over $15.60. The transaction was carried out as part of Bitmines previously approved $4 billion share buyback program.

Li described this move as a way to enhance shareholder value, hinting that management considered the companys shares attractive enough to compete with Ethereum for capital over the past weekend.

The decline in Bitmines ETH purchases points to a concerning trend across the entire cryptocurrency market. Most other investment firms accumulating digital assets have remained passive over the past few months, and the largest among them recently joined their ranks.

After a string of consecutive weekly purchases, Strategy, led by Saylor, paused its BTC accumulation several weeks ago. It even announced two Bitcoin sales. Although the sales have ceasedat least for now Strategy is now focused on rebuilding its dollar reserves, while its BTC holdings remain untouched.
