– The surpassing of the $1 billion milestone in the syrupUSDC pool demonstrates the rapidly growing demand for institutional-grade returns in [decentralized finance], Maple CEO Sidney Powell told The Defiant. This shows that allocators are no longer on the sidelines, but are actively looking for ways to safely and productively deploy capital online.

Powell added that syrupUSDC serves as a bridge for allocators to do just that, and the momentum has only accelerated in recent months.

The milestone comes on the heels of Maple’s announcement on Wednesday that it is expanding syrupUSDC to Arbitrum, a Tier 2 Ethereum network with a total blockchain value (TVL) of about $3.7 billion, according to DeFiLlama.

Maple’s move to Arbitrum complements its presence on Ethereum and Solana. The launch also includes support for Arbitrum’s new DRIP rewards program, which allows users to receive ARB tokens when borrowing under syrupUSDC. This feature adds an additional layer of rewards to Maple’s regular returns, according to a press release obtained by The Defiant.

The extension to Arbitrum is an important step along the way. It connects syrupUSDC to one of the most active communities in DeFi, where the appetite for leverage and yield is huge, Powell said. By meeting users where they already are, we are making syrupUSDC more liquid and accessible, laying the groundwork for credit markets that can compete with traditional finance in scale and efficiency.

This extension is part of Maple’s multichain strategy to extend syrupUSDC to the busiest DeFi networks. Maple’s native SYRUP token is currently trading at $0.47, up 8% over the past week and 17% over the past two weeks, according to CoinGecko.
