📌 Bitmine goes public for the first time on the New York Stock Exchange with $11.4 billion in Efirium reserve strategy
By early April, Bitmine had accumulated about 4.803 million ETH, which is approximately 3.98% of the total token in circulation. As such, the firm is over 79% of the way to its stated goal of reaching 5% of the total supply, which management calls the 5% alchemy.
The company’s total crypto assets, cash and high-risk investments have reached about $11.4 billion, of which $864 million is cash. This makes Bitmine the largest Ethereum holder among corporations in the world.
This strategy follows the approach of organizations such as MicroStrategy in regards to Bitcoin, but with a specific focus on the leading altcoin.
Going public on the NYSE gives Bitmine access to a much wider range of institutional investors while increasing shareholder turnover.
The company is already backed by key investment players including Katie Wood’s ARK Invest, Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, Galaxy Digital and others.
According to the management, the company’s high liquidity and ability to rapidly grow its net asset value (NAV) per share gives it an advantage over other organizations with crypto reserves.
Along with the listing, Bitmine announced the expansion of its share repurchase program to $4 billion, one of the largest such initiatives for 2026.
The move is seen as a signal that the company is ready to maintain the market value of its securities in case of fluctuations and increase their price if they are undervalued.
The buyback will be made on the open market in accordance with regulatory norms, and the program includes shares already purchased.
By combining active asset accumulation, strong institutional support, and going public, Bitmine is forming a new type of public entity – one that functions as a long-term crypto-reserve.
This model raises the question of how the concentration of Ethereum in corporate hands might affect the liquidity and decentralization of the network, a topic that is likely to become increasingly relevant as institutional involvement grows.
Bitmine’s listing on the New York Stock Exchange highlights the accelerating convergence of traditional financial markets and the crypto industry, setting new benchmarks for the scale and ambition of corporate accumulation of digital assets.
